As part of our "Journey to Tomorrow" program, IHG is removing small bathroom amenities and replacing them with bulk pump bottles across all our hotels, marking a first for a global hotel company and a step towards transforming the hospitality industry to minimize waste.
InterContinental Yokohama Grand will begin gradually introducing the system from December 2021.

Initiatives to reduce energy consumption
IHG Green Engage
Introduced in group hotels worldwide since 2009
This online system supports environmentally friendly hotel management by tracking each hotel's energy and water consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, and waste management status, and helping to reduce energy consumption. Another feature of this system is the "Green Solutions" function, which provides guidance on over 200 specific measures that can help hotels reduce their environmental impact.
Switching to LED lighting
Sequentially from 2014
All lighting in the building has been changed to LED lighting, which helps prevent the room temperature from rising and reduces electricity consumption for air conditioning.
Eliminate the use of plastic straws
Since 2018
We have eliminated the use of disposable plastic straws in guest rooms, restaurants, and banquet halls and are using biodegradable straws instead, reducing plastic waste.
Use of environmentally friendly guest room amenities and packaging
Starting in 2019
As part of an initiative at InterContinental Hotels worldwide, the amenities and packaging in guest rooms, such as combs, toothbrushes, shower caps, and shavers, are all made from environmentally friendly materials. In addition, we are gradually switching over to paper or other environmentally friendly packaging for bento boxes and side dishes sold at our hotels.
No linen changes in guest rooms
We encourage guests staying multiple nights to reuse the towels, sheets, and other linens used in their rooms, and if requested, we will not change them after the second night. By asking for your cooperation in reusing linens, we aim to reduce wastewater discharged during laundry.
Disposable toiletries replaced with large pump bottles
Starting in December 2021
In all guest rooms, mini bottles of soap (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel) will be removed from the bathroom and replaced with refillable pump bottles.
InterContinental Yokohama Grand is striving to contribute to the realization of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), including obtaining certification under Yokohama City's SDGs certification system, "Y-SDGs."
