Located about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, this complex at Shinko Pier in Minato Mirai 21 district integrates a passenger ship terminal (CIQ facility), the InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 hotel, and experiential shops themed around "food." The massive structure at the tip of Shinko Pier is Japan's first port cargo handling crane, built in 1914. It has been designated a Civil Engineering Heritage Site by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers as a valuable historical relic. Its hammer-like shape has earned it the nickname "Hammerhead Crane," which became the origin of the facility's name. Even now, more than 100 years after its construction, it continues to watch over the seas of Yokohama.

Yokohama Marathon 2026

Sunday, October 25, 2026

The full marathon starts in front of Yokohama Landmark Tower, allowing runners to enjoy the scenery of Yokohama, including the Red Brick Warehouse and Yamashita Park. In the second half, runners can take part in the only race in Japan that uses the Metropolitan Expressway, and the race finishes at PACIFICO Yokohama Rinko Park, overlooking the Bay Bridge.
In addition to the full marathon, you can enjoy a variety of events such as the Bay Area Highway Run, a pair relay, the Minato Minatomirai 7km Run, and the Enjoy Run (approximately 3km).
